Songs
          That Debuted at #1-
You know them, you love them.

There are thousands of songs that have hit #1 after a climbing the charts
for a while. In some cases it takes just a few weeks. Other songs have
to linger in listeners ears for months before their popularity pushes
          them to #1.
        But
for a song to debut at #1 -- to hit the top spot the very first week
out -- requires some very special magic.
        Here
are all the songs that have hit #1 in the Billboard Hot 100 in their
first week since the mid 1990s:

1995: "You Are Not Alone" Michael Jackson
It's hard to remember now that Michael is the King of Weird, but there
was a time when a Michael Jackson release was a major event.

          1995: "Fantasy" Mariah Carey
Carey is still performing, but has fallen off the superstar status that
pushed "Fantasy" to the top. In terms of raw vocal power she's
one of the better singers of the last ten years.

1995: "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)" Whitney Houston
          Whatever happened to Whitney Houston?

1995: "One Sweet Day" Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men
Man, Boyz II Men was one sweet group. Vocal harmonies have rarely sounded
better. They also had a hit album in 2003, but apparently it didn't
translate to the success of "One Sweet Day".

1997: "I'll Be Missing You" Puff Daddy and Faith Evans
Puff Daddy has since since changed his name. Maybe he should have kept
          it the same.

          1997: "Honey" Mariah Carey
This song represented the end of an era for Ms. Carey (unless of course,
she makes a dramatic comeback -- always a possibility for her.)

1997: "Candle In the Wind" Elton John
It helped that this was a tribute to recently deceased royalty, Lady
Di. Then again, Elton John is a genius, no matter how overplayed his
          music is on the radio.

1998: "My Heart Will Go On" Celine Dion
And to think, she ended up singing Vegas.

          1998: "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" Aerosmith
Ironically, Aerosmith was way past its prime when it had this smash
hit. But the group was always more talented than the party band they
          pretended to be.

1998: "Doo Wop (That Thing)" Lauren Hill
          Whatever happened to Lauren Hill?

          1998 "I'm Your Angel" R. Kelly & Celine Dion
Commercially, the combination of R. Kelly (a veritable hit machine)
and Celine Dion is a killer.

2003: "This Is The Night" Clay Aiken
A highly talented singer, and it didn't hurt that he was the star of
          a top-ranked TV show.
